(IndianMuslims.info) - The Arab Group at the European Union for Marketing and Development (EUMD) has awarded Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh its Medal for his efforts in making the London donors’ meeting a success and his efforts in realising social and economic development in Yemen.

The meeting was held on Nov 15 and 16 in London.

The regional chief of Arab Group Abdul-Aziz Attarb told Saba that President Saleh was already given the Gold Friendship Certificate in 1996 from the union as the first president who got such certificate.

Ali Abdullah Saleh is among the few head of state in West Asia to be elected by its people in free elections. He was president of North Yemen from 1978 to 1990, then elected president of united Yemen in 1990. He was again elected in 2006 winning about 77% of the votes.

Almotamar Net - Doctors use the word “crisis” to describe the point at which a patient either starts to recover or dies. President George W. Bush’s Iraqi patient now seems to have reached that point. Most commentators appear to think that Bush’s latest prescription – a surge of 20,000 additional troops to suppress the militias in Baghdad – will, at best, merely postpone the inevitable death of his dream of a democratic Iraq. Yet as “Battle of Baghdad” begins, factors beyond Bush’s control and not of his making (at least not intentionally) may just save Iraq from its doom.
