almotamar.net - President Ali Abdullah Saleh said Tuesday the Arab summit in Riyadh is convened under difficult and complicated circumstances and great challenges facing the Arab nation, particularly the situations in Palestine, Iraq, Somalia, south Sudan and Lebanon witnessing a political escalation influencing security and stability of this country.
On his arrival in Saudi Arabia Tuesday evening to take part in the 19th Arab summit president Saleh said “We are looking forward that convention of this summi in Riyadh will be an occasion preparing success for its meetings and finding solutions to all issues in the manner guaranteeing confrontation of challenges and dangers aiming at entity, security and stability of the Arab nation.”
The president reiterated Yemen’s support for the importance of developing the Arab joint action, concentration on continuation of reforms and activation of the role of the Arab League as well as finding mechanisms to remove differences and purifying atmospheres between the brethren as well as concentration on human development.
President Saleh called for the necessity of offering full support for the Somali government to be able to reconstruct Somali civil establishments as well as realization of security and stability and supporting development and peace and motional unity in Sudan.
He said Yemen affirms commitment to comprehensive and just peace as an Arab strategic solution and that the Arab peace initiative is an object of Arab unanimity and there is no way for outflanking it or reconsider its content. He said peace cannot be realized but through implementation of resolutions of the international legitimacy; the Israeli withdrawal from the Palestinian territories, the occupied Syrian Golan Heights and the return of Palestinian refugees and the establishment of the Palestinian state and its capital Al-Quads.
President Saleh said the Arab summit has to tackle with a sense of responsibility the situation and ordeal of the Palestinians living in Iraq in the light of threats and violence at the hands of some militias and death squads in the manner of finding an outlet for their ordeal.
