almotamar.net - The Yemeni Liquefied Natural Gas Company on Tuesday said the actual operation of gas liquefying station presently under construction in Belhaf area, the governorate of Shabwa will begin by the end of 2008, denying the construction process to affected by Shabwa events that where a number of citizens and military men were the victims.
In a press conference the company's administration held in Sana'a Tuesday the company added that the proportion of work completed amounted to 74% and the first productive line will be finished by the end of 2008 and the first shipment of gas will be transported to Korea and the second productive line will be ready in the first quarter of 2009. It said the engineering modifications made on the installations in Mareb are expected tube completed the end of next December.
The company added that the 320km-long main pipeline from the gas fields in Mareb is expected to be completed at an early time of 2008 and then gas will flow to the station for operating the electric power.
The LNG project is presently providing more than 7000 jobs and will provide 600 permanent jobs during its operation and 225 persons will be trained in Malaysia and India in the field of sea navigation in addition to 15 persons to be trained in Mareb and Shabwa to occupy administrative posts.
The volume of the government investment in the project amounts to $ 3.7 billion and expected that the project's revenues in 20 years to amount to $ 30-50 billion. This will give Yemen an economic impetus to contribute to acceleration the rate of economic growth as the biggest investment project in Yemen.
