In a statement to almotamar.net Staff Col. Anees Ali Salem clarified they had evacuated the military garrison from Lesser Hunaish Island in precaution for volcanic activities that many take place in the island after they had in the past days monitored tremors in the island which is 75 nautical miles far from Jabal al-Tair Island.

He said height of spewed up lava from Jabal al-Tair Island reach at 10 metres and can be seen with eyes from a far distance, confirming their flowing up until Friday evening. The Yemeni naval official said they were running continuous naval patrols watching international sea routes and preventing any sea vessel from approaching the island.
