almotamar.net - Yemeni Journalists Syndicate (YJS) on Monday expressed its denunciation of the attack on the journalist Yahya Jarallah who works for Saba news agency by security men at Sana'a International Airport last Saturday. The YJS has also condemned prevention of a team of Al-Jazeera Satellite Channel Bureau in Yemen from covering a funeral of Radafan dead persons, Lahj governorate.
In a statement received by almotamar.net today the YJS mentioned the attack on journalist Jarallah came during a bickering with a member of the airport security while the journalist was seeing off his father heading for pilgrimage. The YJS said the journalist came under attack and was detained before he was taken to the Criminal Investigations office where he is still detained their.
The Syndicate requested the minister of interior and the general prosecutor to intervene immediately for the journalist release and to hold accountable the attackers.
The YJS expressed its surprise over violation of the law and the right to obtain information by arties having nothing to do with pres and media activities, an indication to prevention of al-Jazeera TV channel team from covering the funeral in Lahj.
The Syndicate asked the competent authorities in the government to take necessary measures putting an end to such practices.
