Almotamar.net - Member of the General People's Conference (GPC)'s general committee Dr Ahmed Ubaid Bin Daghr affirmed Monday that the success of measures taken by the President and the GPC government to tackle conditions of the retired have foiled a card the opposition Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) and those of ill mentality used against the GPC and its policies and leaderships.

The GPC leading member, the head of the mass organisations office at the GPC, expressed his confidence that the people would discover the falsehood of those parties sooner or later and as those parties revealed flimsy stands regarding Saada insurgents they have repeated the same mistake regarding advocates of secessionism in the southern governorates and each mistake they commit out of a disturbed vision was pushing them to commit more stupidity more detriment to the homeland and the national unity.

Bin Daghr accused the JMP of supporting Saada rebellion. He said the JMP supported Saada rebellion in the media and politically and maybe further than that. Again they have done that for tactical objectives without taking into account the homeland's higher interests. He said that is why their participation in the committee on Saada was not effective and constructive.
The GPC leading member said democracy is a firm choice of the GPC and consequently in its view sits-in and protests are among means for expressing of opinion. Indicating that the problem lies in taking advantage of protests to harm the national unity and social peace and the attempt to affect development programmes.
Bin Daghr revealed that the GPC is preparing for holding a conference comprising all civil society organisations in Yemen in implementation of recommendations of Taiz conference held last year under an initiative by President Ali Abdullah Saleh.

Almotamar Net - Doctors use the word “crisis” to describe the point at which a patient either starts to recover or dies. President George W. Bush’s Iraqi patient now seems to have reached that point. Most commentators appear to think that Bush’s latest prescription – a surge of 20,000 additional troops to suppress the militias in Baghdad – will, at best, merely postpone the inevitable death of his dream of a democratic Iraq. Yet as “Battle of Baghdad” begins, factors beyond Bush’s control and not of his making (at least not intentionally) may just save Iraq from its doom.
