Almotamar.net - Yemeni authorities have received a new group of Somali migrants as a part of continuous migration wave since the return of disturbances in Somalia where hundreds flee the whirlpool of war towards Yemen as the last haven for chances of safe life.
Local sources in Abyan governorate told almotamar.net mentioned about the arrival of 150 Somali refugees the concerned authorities received them on Thursday on shores of Ahwar area.
The sources indicated to gathering them by the UNHCR and transferring them to the refugees camp at Mayfaa district of Shabwa governorate.
UNHCR office in Sana'a has mentioned that the number of refugees registered as coming from the Horn of Africa to Yemen amounted by the end of last year to 113 thousand refugees most of them are from Somalia. It added that influx of refugees to Yemen is around 12 to 14 thousand refugees every year.
While the Yemeni government affirms that the number of African refugees in Yemen amounts to 750 thousand an official at the UNHCR in charge of external relations said in a previous statement that the number of registered refugees in Yemen amounted to 113 thousand and eight by the end of 2007.
