Almotamar.net - Arab foreign Ministers are to hold an emergency meeting at the Arab League (AL) headquarters on Sunday upon an Egyptian Saudi request to discuss deteriorating situations in Lebanon and keep away the ghost of civil war in Lebanon.

As officials at the AL confirmed Sunday that the meeting would discuss a Yemeni initiative for tackling the crisis, Yemen’s permanent delegate to the AL Dr Abdulwali al-Shamiri revealed that the initiative concerning the crisis includes five points.

Ambassador Dr al-Shamiri said the initiative points are that General Michel Sulaiman undertakes management of dialogue with all Lebanese political forces, the government of al-Sanyoura continues as caretaker until the election of a new president for the republic, the government revokes its decisions concerning communications network of Hezbollah, pulling out groups from the streets and return of normal life to Beirut and amendment of the AL resolution for solving the Lebanese crisis in the light of the above articles.

On his part the Assistant Secretary General of the AL for political affairs ambassador Ahmed Bin Hilly said in a statement to the Middle East newspaper that every Arab countries would submit its ideas in the meting so that to agree on steps of action for rescuing Lebanon and implementing the Arab initiative of which he views that the events have not exceeded it yet, indicating that there are Egyptian ideas and a Yemeni initiative the Arab foreign ministers will listen to today.

Meanwhile, the head of the AL Secretary General Office, his special envoy to Lebanon Ambassador Hisham Yusuf has affirmed the existence of a number of suggestions fro Egypt and Yemen whose President Ali Abdullah Saleh has conducted a call with the AL Secretary General Amr Musa on he Yemeni proposals. Mr Yusuf expressed his hope in reaching an Arab accord on the Arab stand that would be adopted by Arab ministers and an agreement on specific steps to be approved and adopted by the Arab foreign ministers Sunday.

President Ali Abdullah Saleh had made Thursday intensive contacts with a number of Arab leaders and Lebanese leaderships for containing the developments in Lebanon and healing the rift in the Lebanese national rank and avoiding Lebanon’s slipping into sectarian sedition and internal fighting as well as working on whatever that would preserve Lebanon’s security, stability and its national unity.

Almotamar Net - Doctors use the word “crisis” to describe the point at which a patient either starts to recover or dies. President George W. Bush’s Iraqi patient now seems to have reached that point. Most commentators appear to think that Bush’s latest prescription – a surge of 20,000 additional troops to suppress the militias in Baghdad – will, at best, merely postpone the inevitable death of his dream of a democratic Iraq. Yet as “Battle of Baghdad” begins, factors beyond Bush’s control and not of his making (at least not intentionally) may just save Iraq from its doom.
