Almotamar.net - The Specialised Criminal Court in Yemen decided Sunday postponement of considering the case of Mohammed al-Maqaleh accused of insulting the judiciary body to next Sunday.
The First Instance Criminal Court chaired by Judge Radwan al-Nimr listened in its Sunday sitting to indictment presented by the prosecution against al-Maqaleh. The prosecution accused al-Maqaleh with a charge of violating status and prestige of the head of the court and its attorney general during the court’s sitting on 8 April 2008 and 22 April 2008 with the aim of affecting procedures of the trial of a case against defendants Jafar al-Marhabi, Abdulkarim al-Khaiwani and others.
The indictment mentioned that al-Maqaleh spelled phrases offending status and prestige of the judiciary and the prosecution and described the court as farce and the judge as mad not a judge who does not deserve the seat of judiciary. He had also ridiculed the prosecutor during his presentation of the mentioned case.
Al-Maqaleh denied the charges against him and the defence of the defendant requested photocopying the file of the case and to release the defendant on parole.
The court decided to allow the defence body to copy the case file and postponement of the decision of releasing al-Maqaleh and adjourned the session to next Sunday.
