Almotamar.net - Staff lieutenant general Abid Rabu Mansour Hadi , the Vice-President and deputy leader of the General People's Congress (GPC) affirmed Wednesday the Yemeni unity is the greatest strategic achievement and one of the essential goals of the Yemeni 26 September Revolution , revealing presidential directives for transferring YR40 billion to the governorates in support for the local rule.
In an interview to Al-Mithaq newspaper on the occasion of the 18th National Day of the Republic of Yemen the Vice-President said the unity is safeguarded and protected by the will of the people and there is no fear and worry about it, adding that the Yemeni masses proved their capability of protecting it when it was exposed to conspiracy in summer of 1994.
Mr Hadi said," it should have to be clear that there are national constants that cannot be jumped over or the contents of which manipulated. These constants are the republican system, the national unity and the democratic approach. These foundations came as result of long struggle and great sacrifices. "
The Vice-President said the people of Yemen are celebrating the 18th National Day amid various renascence developments at both developmental and democratic levels but the most outstanding democratic event that has coincided with the National Day celebration has been the democratic step of the election of the mayor of the capital and governors of the provinces. He said those elections came as translation of the election platform of President Ali Abdullah Saleh and in the frame of expanding the democratic base for large people's participation. The next step will be the election of heads of the districts after finishing the legal procedures in the proper time.
