Almotamar.net - President Ali Abdullah Saleh has on Wednesday evening congratulated the Yemeni people inside and outside on the 18th National Day of the Yemeni Republic on 22 May, confirming that Yemen is witnessing important changes represented by election of provinces governors as meeting the promise and translation of the President's electoral platform.

In his speech to the Yemeni people inside and outside on this national occasion Wednesday evening the president affirmed that the election of governors would be followed by further steps on the road of local rule with large authorities and achievement of many of what has been included in the electoral platform regarding different areas, announcing the inauguration of services and developmental projects amounting to more than YR 400 billion as part of the celebration of this dear national occasion.
The President directed the government to draw up cures guaranteeing alleviation of citizens suffering due to rise of prices and deterring manipulators as well as encouragement of farmers, offering them facilities and expansion the agricultural area for production of grains in the way realizing food security for Yemen. The President also urged the government to encourage local and foreign investments and implementing strategic projects that will absorb the largest number of workforce.
On al-Houthi insurgency the President said the state was from the first of events was keen to contain the sedition provoked by al-Houthi in some districts of the governorate of Saada and for that purpose many committees were set up from scholars, political parties, the shoura and the mediation of the state of Qatar for the purpose of prevention of the Yemeni bloodshed.
President Saleh added the elements of rebellion and sedition have rejected all the national efforts and brotherly offices and continued their insurgency and committed terrorist acts against citizens, sheikhs, social personalities and members of the armed forces and security as well as sabotaging public and private property, blocking roads and destabilizing security, stability and public peace in those districts of Saada.
The President also affirmed that the state is undertaking its national and constitutional and legal responsibilities as well as protecting he homeland and citizens and it holds those outlaw elements ad responsible for not listening to the voice of reason.
President Saleh also called on the political forces to adopt the way of dialogue as a civilized road for treating all the issues and not to impede the march of construction, development and investment and to keep away from disseminating the culture of hatred inside the society. He considered the homeland as in need of the efforts of all of its sons without any exception for the development, construction and stabilization of security and stability and stressed on the sons of the people of Yemen to preserve the unity as it is the illuminating candle in the deteriorating Arab reality.
President Ali Abdullah Saleh affirmed the interest in the armed forces and the security protecting the constitutional legitimacy and security, stability, development, democracy, national unity and the intention of improving the conditions of their personnel. The president also called for giving priority to dialogue on what is going on in Lebanon, Palestine, Iraq, Somalia, Sudan and blessing the agreement of the Lebanese parties.
He has expressed his surprise concerning the international silence on what is going on in against the Palestinian people of aggression and iniquitous blockade.
