Almotamar.net - The General Committee of General People's Congress (GPC) ruling party in Yemen held a meeting on Thursday in which it discussed a number of important issues related to national preparations for the upcoming parliamentary elections.
The meeting reviewed the results of meetings of the parliament recently and listened to detailed suggestions on the formation of the supreme commission for elections. And in this context the General Committee reviewed the proposed names by the parliament, considering that move as positive on the road of the ongoing preparations for the elections and meeting the date of the upcoming democratic due.
The Committee also called on al national forces to participate in the upcoming parliamentary elections in April 2009 as they are considered one the stages of development in the march of democratic building. The meeting stressed the necessity of going ahead in the preparatory procedures in commitment to the constitution and the operative law.
The General Committee praised the role played by the GPC parliamentary bloc and the level of discussions the bloc engaged throughout the previous period with the blocs of the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) that disavowed their commitments about what has been politically agreed on between the leadership of the GPC and leaderships of the JMP.
The meeting considered the successes achieved by the armed forces and the security in confronting the terrorist acts and practices violating the law by extremist and terrorist elements. And in this regard the General Committee valued efforts of the armed forces and the security in aborting the attempts of disturbing security in the valley of Hadramout and the city of Tarim.
The meeting prayed for mercy for the martyrs of the duty while they were facing those outlaw terrorist elements and wishing speedy recovery of the wounded. The meeting also discussed a number of issues related to party organization and took necessary decisions about them.
