Almotamar.net - Yemen hosts Monday meetings of the Regional Symposium of the Political Role of the Tribe organised by the Yemen Observation for Human Rights (YOHR). The symposium is held as part of the programme organised by Canadian International Development Research Centre (IDRC) in Yemen with the YOHR, Strategic Studies Centre (CSS) in Jordan and the Gulf Centre for Research (GRC) in Iraq.
According to a statement obtained by almotamar.net it is decided a number of specialised researchers and those from Yemen and the world are to take part in the symposium.
Executive Manager of YOHR Mohammed al-Maqtari said he event is to discuss the political role of the tribe and its relationship with the state and the civil society and political forces as well as its effect on democracy and the course of elections in addition to comparison on the extent of the power of the tribal structure in the three countries and its relationship with civilian culture.
Over four working sessions the symposium is to discuss a number of working papers and researches on the importance of the tribe in the Middle East countries and its role in Yemen, Jordan and Iraq and its role in the parliamentary elections , the political and civil forces and civil society organisations and the tribe.
