Almotamar.net - The acting Secretary General of the General People's Congress (GPC) Abdulrahman al-Akwaa affirmed that the GPC is keen on participation of all political forces and parties, particularly the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) that views that Yemen is not qualified for political pluralism and peaceful transfer of power.

In his meeting Sunday with chief of advisors at the Democratic Institute for International Affairs for the Middle East and North Africa Region Mathew Frumen al-Akwaa said it was supposed that the parties of the JMP to deal with responsibility with the call of president Ali Abdullah Saleh for dialogue and the assignment of Dr Abdulkarim al-Eryany, the political advisor to the President and not in issuing a statement that does not serve and rejects the dialogue.

The Acting Secretary General of the GPC also pointed out that the JMP wants dialogue outside the frame of the constitution and the law, and that is unacceptable as the constitution and the law is the reference and the base from which the GPC proceeds fore dialogue.

He added that the GPC offered many concessions during the dialogue with the JMP but it remained barricaded behind narrow and insincere partisan stands and issues. He reiterated emphasis on the GPC keenness on finding correct and clean electoral record, free from violations and mistakes.

Al-Akwaa said work must be done for the woman and her attaining to the parliament away from party outbidding as some political parties exploit the woman for outbidding before the international organisations. He has also expressed the GPC readiness for any suggestions and opinions the NDI would suggest for the securing of honest and transparent elections away from using the public property and public service as well as using the official media instruments, calling the attention that the elections are a right for the people rather than a political party.

On his part Mr Mathew praised the democracy of Yemen which he considered as pioneering in the region and emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation between the GPC and the NDI.

Meanwhile the Director of the National Democratic Institute in Sana'a Peter Dimitrov has said that the offer of President Ali Abdullah Saleh deserves all appreciation as he is a patron of democracy and keen on its strengthening and development. He also stressed that all the parties , in the forefront of which the JMP should participate in the elections and affirmed that the NDI rejects boycotting the elections as this stance does not serve the opposition parties.
