almotamar.net, Saba - President Ali Abdullah Saleh chaired on Thursday a meeting for General People Congress's General Committee.The meeting discussed developments on national and Arab arena, especially lthe Israeli aggression against Palestinians in Gaza as well as issues concerning role of the GPC during the forthcoming period and preparations for 2009 parliamentarian elections.
The meeting reasserted Yemen's denunciation to Israeli aggression, noting Yemen's attitude for supporting active move by UN Security Council to stop the aggression and ending the blockade imposed on Gaza Strip.
The committee highlighted results of Sana'a Forum held in Sudanese Capital Khartoum for enhancing and improving joint work between the forum's members for serving peace and development in these countries.
The committee welcomed the decision of the Sixteenth Gulf Summit held in Muscat for including Yemen in other gulf institutions. It affirmed that this decision is important step toward complete integration with Gulf Cooperation Council.
The committee discussed also political developments on national area such as success of the first phase of elections. It also discussed democratic atmosphere and freedoms of press and other related topics.
