Almotamar Net - Vice President Abdu Rabu Mansour Hadi affirmed that Yemen has made considerable step in fighting cancer. In a speech he delivered in the opening ceremony of the Gulf 4th Conference on Fighting Cancer started its meetings in Sana’a  on Monday, Hadi said the president issued directives for establishing centers for cancer in five governorates. He hoped Yemen to expand in fighting cancer.

Almotamar.net, Saba - Vice President Abdu Rabu Mansour Hadi affirmed that Yemen has made considerable step in fighting cancer. In a speech he delivered in the opening ceremony of the Gulf 4th Conference on Fighting Cancer started its meetings in Sana’a on Monday, Hadi said the president issued directives for establishing centers for cancer in five governorates. He hoped Yemen to expand in fighting cancer.

He said that talking on the cancer is talking on a complicated problem many countries suffer from it. However, some countries could over encounter this disease via limiting its causes and protecting against it.

"I am convinced that the conference will take into consideration all factors and current changes in addition to making use of expertise of brotherly and friendly countries in fighting cancer and setting up suitable solutions for fighting the disease," said Hadi. He highlighted the Yemeni National Establishment for Combating Cancer.

Meanwhile, Minister of Public Health and Population Abdul-Karim Rase'a said the problem of cancer is health issue occupying national concern plagues people of different ages and bothers efforts of the government in limiting the disease.

He hoped that the conference would contribute in showing sufferings of the patients and reducing them. He said that the National Center for Tumors opened in 2004 with the bed capacity of 52 receives 120 cases a day receiving radiotherapy. He noted importance of expansion in opening more centers for fighting cancer.

Meanwhile, the Honorary President of Gulf Union for Fighting Cancer Abdurrahman al-Odhi said the conference aims at enhancing scientific cooperation fields between cancer physicians in the GCC countries.

He highlighted cooperation between the GCC countries in health field including Yemen which hosted early this month the conference of GCC health ministers. He asserted on integrating efforts for fighting this disease.

A donation door for cancer institutions and centers in Yemen has been opened. The vice president announced donation of YR 12 million. The announced donation sum has reached more than YR 200 million from state and public donators included Gulf and Arab institutions.

The three-day conference is participated by 450 physicians and specialists from Gulf and Yemeni cancer centers and institutions besides Canadian doctors.
