Almotamar.net - The second stage of the project on raising electoral awareness for secondary school girl students is to be launched on Sunday. The project is implemented by the General Administration for the Woman Affairs at the Supreme Commission for Elections and Referendum SCER in Yemen along with the UN Development Programme.
In a statement to almotamar.net, the Director General of the Woman at the SCER Ilham Abdulwahab mentioned that the project comes after the end of the first stage on 16 November 208, as part of the programme on political empowerment of the woman 2008-2010. It is also as part of the Commission’s efforts for supporting issues of the woman and enhancement of her political participation.
The SCER official added that preparations are under way for carrying out the 2nd stage of the project by holding a ceremony to which woman leaderships from the political parties and organizations and civil society organizations are invited. A number of secondary school students, women representing illiteracy eradication centres, representatives of civil organizations, Arab and foreign embassies, representatives for the parliament and Shoura council and the Ministry of Education.
She has also said this stage of the project would qualify student leaderships in the secondary school stage for the support of the culture of the woman political participation. It will also include the declaration of forming the first working groups for electoral awareness and they will be trained on subjects of awareness at all stages of the election process. In addition, there will be field practice at schools in six governorates of Yemen, at the beginning, for training purposes.
