Almotamar.net - President Ali Abdullah Saleh on Monday received Assistant of the United States of America President for Homeland Security and Counter-terrorism John Brennan who conveyed to President Saleh a written message from the US President Barak Obama. The message is pertaining to bilateral relations, cooperation and existing partnership between the two countries, including cooperation in security and combating terror in addition to conditions of the Yemeni prisoners in Guantanamo and developments of common concern of the two countries.

The message praised Yemen efforts for fighting terror, affirming the US support for those efforts and for the, march of security and stability and development in Yemen.

The meeting discussed ways of enhancing relations and areas of cooperation of the two friendly countries, among them cooperation in fighting terror in addition to conditions of the Yemeni prisoners in Guantanamo Bay. The US official affirmed the US keenness on strengthening cooperation with Yemen for the achievement of the two countries common interest. He praised Yemen efforts in fighting terror during the attack on the US embassy in Sana’a last September. He expressed anew his condolences foe the victim of that incident from security men and citizens.

For his part President Saleh confirmed Yemen’s keenness on enhancing its relations with the United States of America at different levels in the way realizes the common interests of the two friendly countries and peoples.


He also praised the cooperation of the two countries in fighting terror and reiterated Yemen’s demand for handing over the Yemeni detainees in Guantanamo, pointing out Yemen’s preparations for rehabilitating them ideologically and professionally to incorporate them in the society.

President Saleh also asked the American official to convey a reply message to President Barak Obama, praising the new pursuit of President Obama for restoring the world confidence in the US and extending bridges with others in the manner boosting opportunities of stability and peace in the region and the world.
