Almotamar.net - Deputy Premier for Defence and Security Affairs, the chairman of the Higher Security Commission Dr Rashad al-Alimi said Tuesday yemen was facing three challenges represented by terror, attempts of violating national constants, national gains and the constitution and operative laws and attempts for staging a coup against democracy and political pluralism , in addition to the economic crisis which is a third challenge imposed itself strongly on all political, security and administrative aspects in the Yemeni society.

He renewed the call for a national alignment to confront the challenges by all political forces and civil society organisations so that to preserve the designed approach for the future on 22 may 1990 and to resort to polling boxes as a sole suitable way. He said the attempt to return to resorting to violence and to lead a coup against democracy and political pluralism is something destructive,” and all political forces and parties should join forces to preserve the constants that we all had drawn.”

In a press conference he held with the official spokesman for the government on Tuesday, al-Alimi added,” We do not think there is any government in the world that has no mistakes while practicing its duties and we in the government try to rectify the mistakes day after day and try to have the press and the media as a mirror for all our works and subsequently we benefit from their constructive criticism for correcting the performance.”

Al-Alimi has further affirmed stability of the security situations al over Yemen governorates, including the cities that witnessed in late of last April acts of riots by outlaw elements. He affirmed there is no fear from practices by some forces, whether those practices were legitimate and within the fame of the constitution and the law or by elements that violate the laws and resort to violence.

Al-Alimi added that they in the government tackle those practices by measures that are taken by the government or measures at the political and administrative levels.
At the time he criticized some media instruments exaggeration of the events and praying Yemen as if at the brink of collapse he wished that the freedom of expression, freedom of opinion and political pluralism, by displaying all the negative and positive issues, would not constitute a frustration for the Yemeni an Arab society at the regional and international levels. He called on all media instrument s to adopt a national approach in dealing with the national issues in the way enhancing the unity of the national rank.

Dr al-Alimi also reminded of the repeated calls by the president of the republic for dialogue with the national forces for overcoming and tackling any impediments on any issue, under the ceiling of the national constants.

In his reply to a question on al-Qaeda support for calls of secession al-Alimi pointed to common denominations between forces of extremism of al-Qaeda organisation and the elements violating the law and the Houthis. “Al-Qaeda always looks for the places where political regimes are collapsing and where security and stability collapses, “he added. He stressed that the terrorist organisation would not find a foothold for achieving its intentions in Yemen and that there is security coordination between Yemen and various countries for confronting any acts detriment to the homeland interest.

Concerning the newspapers that have been halted by the ministry of information Dr al-Alimi affirmed that the ministry dealing with what was published in those newspapers was in the core of its specialization and in implementation of the law.

With regard to the United States intention to hand over the Yemeni detainees in Guantanamo to a centre for rehabilitation in Saudi Arabia al-Alimi said it was a US viewpoint concerning sending Yemeni detainees to the Saudi Arabia under pretext that there is a rehabilitation center there and that families of many of the detainees are living in Saudi Arabia. However, he said Yemen has renewed its demands to the US administration to hand over the Yemeni detainees to Yemen, affirming that the government is in the process of establishing a rehabilitation centre for incorporating them in the society.
