Almotamar.net - Regional Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) actor Mahmoud Kabil has on Tuesday emphasized the necessity of activating and enhancing the joint humanitarian effort among official institutions and international organisations and those operating in Yemen in the area of migrants relief due to the sedition of terror and destruction at the camp of Mazraq in order to meet their needs of tents, food, medicines and medical requirements.
In a statement to media outlets during his field inspection visit to the camp Ambassador Kabil said that despite the thankful efforts of the state and organisations there are still needs and requirement that must be provided for the displaced whose migration to the camp continues, calling the attention to that there are needed priorities like ambulances and tackling malnutrition among children.
Ambassador Kabil called on donor organisations to continue and speed up in offering different kinds of relief that are needed by the migrants in the camp of Al-Mazraq.
The ambassador inspected the level of medical services offered to the migrants and school classes set up in the camp under support of the UNICEF, praising turnout of the children female students.
The celebrity Egyptian actor Kabil, the goodwill ambassador of the UNICEF wrapped up his 3-day visit to Yemen during which he met the children affected by the sedition of rebellion and sabotage in Saada.
Kabil had visited the Mazraq camp in Haja province, 20 km away from Saada. The UN Office in Yemen said the UNICEF examined more than one thousand children and found out that 10% of them are infected with acute malnutrition and in need of urgent treatment.
According to latest estimations from Haja province there are about 14 thousand displaced persons in the camp of Al-Mazraq and the neighbouring areas and the area is lacking of essential facilities at a time the number of new arrivals escaping from the Houthi aggressions is continuously increasing.
In a press release the almotamar.net obtained the UNICEF said the lack of security causes the limiting of the possibility of access to the affected population. The UNICEF, as well as other humanitarian organisations, has called more than once to establishing safe corridors for delivery of necessary materials.
