Almotamar.net - Yemen received Saturday from American authorities six of the Yemenis detained in Guantanamo released last Friday.
Official spokesman for the Yemeni embassy in Washington Mohammed al-Basha said the American authorities on Friday released six Yemeni prisoners from Guantanamo and they were handed over to the Yemeni side on Saturday.
Yemeni news agency has quoted al-Basha as saying handing over those prisoners came as a result of the efforts Yemen is exerting for the release of al Yemeni prisoners in Guantanamo in order to return them to Yemen.
For his part the political official at the Yemeni embassy Khalid al-Kathiri said the Yemeni embassy was still intensifying its efforts in pursuit of the releaser of the remainder Yemeni prisoners through holding meetings I American officials at various levels and communication and coordination with the prisoners’ lawyers.
American authorities had last September released the Yemeni prisoner in Guantanamo Ala Ali bin Ali Ahmed, one of the sons of Aden.
President of the republic has recently affirmed Yemen’s demand from the American authorities to hand over to Yemen all Yemeni prisoners in Guantanamo along with their files and whoever is proved to be involved in terrorist acts would be sent to court and those who are proved innocent would be released.
