Almotamar.net, Saba - Minister of Foreign affairs Abu Bakr al-Qirbi confirmed commitment of Yemen to continue its efforts to combat terrorism. In a joint press conference with the Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in Washington, al-Qirbi highlighted cooperation between Yemen and United States, saying that the US administration understood challenges facing Yemen.
He added that the United States is supporting efforts of Yemen to achieve stability.
Al-Qirbi pointed out to the decisions taken by the Yemeni government in field of reforms, saying that lack for resources was reason of delaying implementation of those reforms.
"What we need is really to build the capabilities of our counterterrorism units, make them more effective, train them, provide them with the equipment, and they will do the job," he said. "And this will be to the benefit of both countries with fewer problems and less cost."
He also pointed to the need for aid for development in the impoverished country.
For her part, Clinton said that United States has worked to build positive ties with Yemen, emphasizing the importance of economic development in Yemen.
She pointed out to the significant sign in combating extremist groups by the Yemeni government, especially toward al-Qaeda in Arabia peninsula.
