Almotamar.net - Head of the Yemeni parliamentary delegation to the 10th conference of the International Parliamentary Union, currently held in Thailand capital Bangkok, Sultan al-Barakani separately discussed Tuesday with the Secretary General of the International Parliamentary Union, Secretary General of the Arab Parliamentary Union, the Parliamentary Human Rights Committee and members of the committee aspects of developing bilateral cooperation between the Yemeni parliament and those institutions and their prominent committees in the manner contributing to upgrading the parliamentary activity at national , Arab and international levels to be in harmony with their historical and humanitarian responsibility.
Al-Barakani stressed the necessity that parliamentary institutions must undertake their responsibilities in empowering parliamentarians in contributing to enhance integrated and solidarity work among parliamentary institutions and unify bases and precepts in public freedoms, and human rights and drafting relevant legislations and laws.
Al-Barakani has also stressed importance of providing opportunity for parliamentarians for raising their scientific and practical capacities and experiences and talents and the work for providing all necessary capabilities to perform that duty as it is considered a constitutional and legal right.
Al-Barakani also affirmed the imp ordnance of activating and modernizing the institutional work of the International Parliamentary Union and its specialized committees to enable it achieve the noble humanitarian objectives for which it was it was established.
Al-Barakani has also clarified that Yemen is proud of achieving its national unity with free and democratic will, and it also is proud of following a democratic choice, partisan and political plurality, freedom of opinion expression, respect of the other opinion and diversity of media outlets and press and culture.
