Almotamar.net - Yemen Prime Minister Ali Mohammed Mujawar has said Saturday the advanced and successful world countries are those that invest in human development and depend on the human capital particularly in higher education and scientific research because it is the actual motor of the economic wheel and achievement of a better future for development and raising the national income.
Mujawar added that Yemen has given the human development special attention as it is the cornerstone of sustainable development and the foundation of renascence and the economic, social and civilized development. Mujawar added that the volume of spending on higher education reached its highest levels in the past years and become at the top of developmental priorities and the number of students joined the government and private sector universities amounted to more than 250000 students.
Dr Mujawar maintained, in his opening in Sana’a on Saturday of the first international conference for medical education and academic dependence for the Middle East countries, the government is working on providing support and potentials for education institutions and worked for encouraging the private sector to invest in education at its different stages. As a result the private sector has become active partner and the Sciences and Technology University represents one of its successful examples.
The Prime Minister has also called for paying attention to the subject of quality and academic dependence that has become an urgent demand of the distinguished university education which keeps pace with labour market and development needs.
He said the Arab nation is in need of adopting the new trends in the quality and to go ahead in enhancing their role in the scientific research at the age of knowledge and interest in scientific research and evolvement.
The Prime Minister and with him the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr Saleh Basura and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sciences and Technology university Dr Tareq Sinan Abuluhum have earlier inaugurated the educational strategy of the University of Sciences and Technology for the next three years.
For his part, the Secretary General of Arab Universities Federation Dr Saleh Hashim said the conference would tackle very important topics of education in addition to holding workshops to be held on the sidelines of the conference.
