By: Isam al-Sufiani (almotamar.net) - SANA'A- Secretaries-general of the local councils and heads of the specialized committees are to be elected tomorrow at the level of governorates and districts.
Deputy Minister of Local Administration Omar al-Akbari told almotamra.net that his ministry has completed the preparations for the elections. "The supervisory committees include 1,400 people who are now available in all the governorates to run the elections in 347 local councils," he said.
The mechanism of electing secretaries-general of the local councils takes place as the local councils hold a meeting in the capital city of each governorate, after which they elect secretaries general of the local councils, followed by electing heads of the specialized committees. The law stipulates that the secretaries-general of the local councils should have a five-year experience as well as a university degree.
