Mohamed al-Haidari almotamar.net - SANNA- A human rights report stressed the necessity of reforming conditions of the national prisons and activating areas of qualification of prisoners in a way guaranteeing preservation of legal rights for all prison inmates.

A primary report by the ministry of human rights mentioned that most Yemeni prisons buildings are in dire need for repair because their being old and need repair. The report demanded the government top prepare a national project including reforming of prisons and activating fields of qualifying prisoners as well as offering assistance to insolvent ones through paying fees of their lawyers.
The report also mentioned that through field visits to prisons for inspection of their conditions in various governorates it was found that prisons buildings in the governorates of Amran, Hadramout, Thanmar and Baidha, are in much need of repair and expansion as well as improvement of nutrition and health services for their inmates ands other requirements.
The report also stressed the necessity of raising the standard of special services for female prisoners and the pregnant ones in a way guaranteeing health safety for them and their children.
In the same context the report called for including concepts of human rights in the text books of different school stages besides adoption of human rights concepts in media plans and policies and to encourage civil society organizations to contribute to development process.
The Judiciary Supreme Council had last month approved a program that some Yemeni judges are to be assigned considering cases of insolvent prisoners and to help them pay their dues... On the other hand 71 insolvent prisoners have already finished their terms of imprisonment.
