Almotamar Net - The world premiere of Yemen’s first feature film, ‘A New Day in Old Sana’a’ took place on Sunday at the Yemeni Cultural Centre. The film, the British entry to the current European Film Festival, was directed and produced by Bader Ben Hirsi, a Yemeni-British director.

Invited guests including diplomats, journalists and businessmen, and a big gathering of both foreigners and Yemenis filled the large cinema. Frequent laughs and loud clapping could be heard throughout the performance. Many said that they liked the film. Many, especially those who knew about its background and the challenges that the film crew faced during the shooting, said they were very impressed at the final production. A spokesman from the British Council described the film as a “wistful and funny romance about confused identities.” The spokesman said: “The film is also a homage to the beauty and unique character of Old Sana’a.”
