Dr. Mohammed Abdullah al-Sayyani said in a statement to almotamar.net that differences occurred in the governorates of Hajjah, al-Jawf, Raimah and al-Mahweet, where the voting process stopped and some members of electoral committees withdrew.
Local sources in Melhan district told almotamar.net that members of the Islah Party yesterday evening attacked security men, injuring five soldiers. In the governorate of Amran, al-Sayyani said the electoral process is conducted amid tensions, but without reporting any violent acts.
Local sources in different governorates further noted to almotamar.net that the Islah Party's branches announced called their activists and members to be on alert so as to thwart the electoral process by instigating problems and firing bullets that can cause fear among electors.
General Director of al-Jaafaria district in the governorate of Raimah said armed members of the Islah Party have fired several shots at one of the election centers, which thwarted the electoral process there.
In the governorate of Amran, independent candidate, who belongs to the Islah Party, Hussein al-Halhali has seized the documents of the election center in Bani Sureim district.
There are 229,763 voters, of whom 95,419 are females who are registered to vote during the by-elections. 670 candidates, of whom 181 are female candidates, are vying for local council seats at the level of governorates and 489 candidates at the level of districts.
