Almotamar Net - An independent commission for fighting corruption in Yemen is to be established, once Parliament gives its expected approval to tough new laws to tackle the problem.

A joint committee, formed from the Constitutional and Financial Parliamentarian Committees, presented its recommendations to the government to set up the national taskforce. The recommendations come after President Salehs approval last week to set up such a commission, composed of members of government institutions and civil society.

The organizations exact responsibilities, and its relations with other public organizations, will be determined by law. The law will also regulate financial departments in public institutions, and is expected to combat financial irregularities.

The committee asked the government to create laws to block illegal earnings, and called upon the civil society organizations to help in the establishment of the organization.
