Almotamar Net - The permanent committee of the General Peoples 
Congress party approved on Wednesday in its fifth meeting all papers and documents, which will be presented to the partys 7th assembly to be started on Thursday.

In the meeting, president Ali Abdullah Saleh delivered a speech to the participants congratulating members of the permanent committee.

Saleh said that the 7th conference "is to be held in a critical time at the national, regional and international levels", adding that
people arewaiting for the consequences and decisions of the conference, particularly the party's program of economic, social,
political reforms as well as fighting corruption.

He pointed to the project of setting up an independent body for combating Corruption. He said the body would be run by representatives of non-governmental organizations, public and private sectors as well as state bodies.

"The corruption must be uprooted through referring corrupt people to the courts. Some accuse others of corruption as they are themselves corrupted," said Saleh.

He said that to fight corruption state has first to fight those corrupted who raise anti-corruption slogan, in the opposition parties
or in the GPC party.

He said the 7th conference of the party would discuss key issues and comeout with a set of decisions which formulate the party's future
programs.

The party has leaded and protected the country from challenges and plots, especially the plot of separation in 1994.

Regarding initiative of the joint meeting of opposition parties on political reform, president Saleh said those parties have to work
hard to get the confidence of people in local, parliamentary and presidential elections.

He said that the GPC would continue its tasks to push the country forward in the framework of the local, regional and international
changes.

The secretary general of the GPC Dr. Abdul-Kareel al-Eryani presented to the meeting the report of the Permanent Committee which will be
discussed in the conference.

Dr. al-Eryani said that the past activities of PC were to serve goals and principles of the party, which aim at developing the country in
allaspects of life, and strengthening democracy through adopting multiparty policy and respecting human rights.

He confirmed that GPC could gain the confidence of the people, saying that such confidence encourages the members of GPC to double their
effortsto face challenges of development, security and economic stability in the country.

He also confirmed the obligations of the party towards the Yemeni people, saying that the party responses to any positive steps by the
oppositionto share development efforts and protect national interests
