Almotamar.net - The governments of Holland and Britain offered a sum of $12.5 million in support for Yemen to establish a Programme for Maternity and the Newly-born to be implemented by the Social Fund for Development. The consultative company would offer the technical support to the programme which began on 1 July 2007 and ends on 31 August 2012.

The programme which targets five governorates: Taiz, Ibb, Lahj, Dhalie and Amran, endeavours to reduce the average of fatality and diseases among the newly-born children as well as mothers. It also aims at offering quality services in the field of giving birth and family planning especially among the poor segment in the targeted governorates.

The agreement was signed on Wednesday by Yemen's Minister of Health and Population and the Charge d' Affaires at the Dutch embassy in Sana'a.
