KUNA - SANAA, Oct 3 (KUNA) -- Ramadan in Yemen is very much a month dedicated to the family, where parents spend the bulk of their time with their children and exchange visits with relatives and members of their extended families.

Most government employees prefer to take their annual vacation during the holy month of Ramadan, thus giving themselves more time for worship and prayer, despite the fact that working hours are reduced.

In Yemen, Ramadan nights are vibrant and energetic and streets are packed with people especially in bazaars and markets that display for their goods in a tempting manner.

Iftar (breakfast) meals are quite diverse, and dinner tables are filled with various traditional food dishes and drinks served especially during this holy month.

As for the final ten days of Ramadan, Yemenis begin their shopping for new clothes that they would wear to celebrate Eid, as well as baking special deserts served on this occasion.
