In an interview published in the Qatari newspaper Al-Sharq and in response to a question on America's request for handing over al-Badawi, Dr al-Eryany said, " Yes but we clearly told them the Yemeni constitution does not allow that and they know that. Al-Badawi is now in prison spending his 15-yrae prison term and I think he has already spent of the term."

Al-Eryany stressed that that Yemen's relations with America is still strong despite of the latest tempest because of the so-called Jamal al-Badawi that affected matters and said " but now has returned to normal."

On the other hand Dr al-Eryany lauded the Yemeni-Qatari relations saying "Qatar has an essential role in development in Yemen and as you know in the donor conference in London the state of Qatar was one of the biggest contributors. Qatar is interested in many aspects in Yemen, the most recent of which is this conference on excavation of Yemen's archaeological sites; Qatar's role is excellent and distinguished."

He has also described the relations of Yemen with Saudi Arabia as excellent; pointing out that on 13 of this month there will be a meeting of the Yemen-Saudi Coordination Council.

Al-Eryany also emphasised that the reforms do not come from outside, adding that democracy cannot be exported and imported and refused to consider Iraq as an example of democracy. He said "I think that those who came to Iraq and occupied it were dreaming that they will change Iraq into an oasis of democracy but now the conflict existing in Iraq cannot be an example in any aspect, neither the democratic or political or social."

In his interview to the Qatari newspaper he added the failure in Iraq is in origin caused by the occupation and not that the Iraqi people do not accept democracy and not because the Iraqi people in their nature do not seek security and stability. He said but the occupation is the one that confused everything in Iraq and if the occupation does not be aware the social and tribal conflict as well as blocks on the road of democracy will remain.
