almotamar.net - President Ali Abdullah Saleh has on Tuesday emphasised that the security forces should be under command of the local authority for performing their tasks and duties for controlling security, stability, public safety and combating the crime.
In a meeting in Aden Tuesday with military and security commands of the southern military area the president confirmed the importance of continuation in carrying out strictly measures taken for prevention of weapon carrying inside the cities and to absolutely back down from that for the achievement of aims of development and investment and in service of the public interest.
President Saleh also pointed out the allocation of billions of Yemeni riyals for settling the issues the retired persons and taking measures concerning payment of salaries and reinstatement of those discharged from service among the ranks of the armed forces and security.
The president has discussed a number of issues and topics about the process of building up and modernisation of the armed forces and security as well as the duties and tasks assigned to them in service of security and stability in addition to issues related to issues of the military and security retirees and the remedies taken about them. The president the retired are "our sons and brothers and we appreciate the efforts they have exerted during their service and their performance of the national duty." He has also reviewed with the military and security commands many of developments and issues that concern the homeland particularly at the current stage. He praised the role of the armed forces and the security in facing all discordant voices that try to offend the homeland through instigation of seditions or harming the social security and peace and the national unity. The president said those were limited elements that lost their interests and were trying to carry out an agenda of those who promote for old dubious projects the people have previously repelled, adding they are failing projects trying to impinge upon gains of the Yemeni revolution of 26 September, 14 October and 30 November, and among those gains is the great one the people have achieved on 22 May 1990.
President Saleh said "There is no fear about the unity because it has been founded to remain and it is protected by God, the will of the Yemeni people and awakening of their constitutional establishments, mainly the armed forces and the security." He indicated that Yemen has adopted the pluralist democracy that guarantees for all expressing their opinions freely. "We have to protect this pioneering experiment and develop it and to make it a means for construction and development and for serving the national interest," the president said.
