almotamar.net - President Ali Abdullah Saleh on Wednesday instructed the government to appropriate YR one billion in the state budget for 2008 for building centres for caner treatment in other governorate, among them Hudeida, to cover needs of the governorates of Hajah, Mahweet, and Rima and the neighbouring areas. The President's directive also called for building a main centre in Aden to cover needs of the governorates of Aden, Abyan, Dhalie and Laj in addition to building centres in Taiz, Ibb, Hadramout and Shabwa as for Al-Jawf and Marib they are connected to Sana'a. The remote governorates are to be connected to the area neighbouring to them where centres for cancer treatment will be built.

In the ceremony held by the National Establishment for Cancer Treatment in Aden on the occasion of opening a Unit for Cancer Tumors in Aden the President hailed the audience and brethren from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. President Saleh thanked the Establishment for its efforts being exerted in the past four years, saying," This is an effort we thank them for and we thank all those who do the good from the sons of the people and the brethren. This is a humanitarian deed for fighting this disease and I have earlier directed to build centres for combating cancer and appropriation of YR 100 million annually for operating the centre. "The president added that reports referred to him mention of about 20 thousand cases a year and urged the people to avoid all causes of cancer infection. He said," You chew qat sprayed with insecticides randomly and they are one of the epidemics that cause cancer."

The president also gave his directives to the government, the ministry of agriculture mainly, to bear its responsibility for preventing of importing dangerous insecticides and not to allow importation of new types of insecticides but after conducting studies and researches that prove they are safe and cause no harm to the human health.

The president also instructed doctors at the ministry of health to adopt awareness campaigns via the media on danger of those insecticides and conduct comprehensive statistic and survey on causes of cancer diseases and to publish them in the media along with enlightening the people on methods of avoiding cancer diseases.
