almotamar.net - The Yemeni Opinion Poll Centre (YPC) is to organise a seminar next Sunday on legal amendments related to the Yemeni woman.

The centre, one of Yemeni non-governmental organisations, aid it will during the seminar announce findings of a questionnaire on directions of the public opinion on those amendments in a frame of engaging the society in the legislative decision implemented in collaboration with the Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI).

The Yemeni government has presented proposal for draft legal amendments of law containing discrimination against women as part of several attempts.

The parliament last October referred those amendments to parliamentary specialised committees. In its explanatory memorandum on the amendments the government said the amendments come in line with the election platform of the president of the republic which was reflected on the government programme approved by the parliament. The government programme included enhancement of the woman role in the political life and expansion various opportunities for her in all walks of life.
