almotamar.net - The Political Advisor to President of the Republic Dr Abdulkarim al-Eryany and the Minister of Culture Dr Mohammed Abubakr al-Maflahi on Saturday inaugurated the festival on the Yemeni historical city of Shibam winning the Agh Khan Prize for Islamic architecture.

An exhibition for historical photos of Hadramout Valley by a German globetrotter was opened at the Museum of antiquities, Customs and Traditions at Seyoun Historical Palace. The German traveller had shot the pictures in the period of 1935-1961.

Advisor to the president and the minister of culture expressed their admiration of the historical photos of high value as they relate life I the past and present and the richness of Seyoun Museum. They indicated that the photos are of historical value speaking about the artistic past of the folklore heritage in which the Hadramout is known.

The German ambassador to Yemen said Shibam city winning the Agha Khan Prize is evidence of depth of the Yemeni ancient civilization with its great potentials. He added that the German globetrotter is considered ambassador of the German culture to Yemen as he managed to join two cultures of two friendly peoples.
