The plan included eight development objectives: providing primary education for all by the year 2015, the two sexes getting equal opportunities of education at the rest of stages, reduction of illiteracy rate among girls and women to the half. Expansion of opportunities for the woman receiving necessary health care and services at easy costs, securing the woman large opportunities in work and designing policies at the health sector.

The plan aims at enhancement of the woman independence by empowering her economically and effectively engaging her in the economic and development decision-making, enhancement of her role in achievement of sustainable development, enabling her to take part actively in making environmental policies and decisions, planning, implementing and evaluation of programmes related to managing natural resources and protection of environment in Yemen.

The plan stressed the ways of the woman actually practicing her human rights, as guaranteed by the Islamic law and stipulated in the national legislations in Yemen as well as the international conventions and that of combating all forms of violence against the woman.

The plan also determined the raising of the level of the woman participation in all positions of power and decision-making as well as raising the level of representing the institutional and governmental mechanisms concerned with issues of the woman and supporting capacities of non-governmental establishments as one of its goals.

The plan also aims at enhancing the role of the media in supporting issues of the woman and reflecting her parallel image in addition to raising the level of her participation in drawing up media policies, decision-making and creation of public opinion on different issues.

The NCW meeting also reviewed results of its participation in the technical committees on discussion of the government sectors budgets. The meeting also presented the Arab Youth Strategy for supporting role of the Arab woman in areas of education, health, information in addition to social, economic, political and legal fields.

On the other hand the participants in the meeting listened to a presentation on the general frame on a report on the woman situation in Yemen in 2007 and a primary vision on activities of the Woman World Day scheduled next March.
