almotamar.net - It is scheduled that the parliament and the Shoura council in Yemen to hold a joint meeting next week. The meeting would be held in response to a call by President Ali Abdullah Saleh to both establishments to hold that meeting after the Al-Adha Eid holidays.

Parliamentary sources mentioned that the joint meeting would consider the initiative of the president of the republic concerning the constitutional amendments in introduction to begin discussing and endorsing them before the people's referendum.

The sources indicated that the amendments include many visions and ideas aimed at development of the political and democratic system, among them changing the ruling system into presidential, reducing presidency term to five years, allocation of 15% of eats for the woman in local councils and parliament, establishment of a local rule with large powers and establishment of bicameral parliamentary system.
