Mr Ahmed called, in a symposium on Takfir (accusation of infidelity) and its negative impact on the democratic system organized by the Writers Union of Yemen and Al-Mustaqila Forum Wednesday, on the wise people in the parliament to possess a real vision for protection of freedoms.

He has also criticised the parliament stance regarding Guantanamo detainees and the retention of Ali Nasser Mohammed, advisor to the president of the republic at the Emirates airport.

The symposium focused on backgrounds and issues aroused by members of parliament, most of them affiliated to the Islah party against Al-Mustaqila newspaper and its owner Saif Hashid and the demand by MPs fro withdrawing his parliament membership for publishing materials offending Islam, according to their allegation.

Mr Ahmed also denounced the attempts for dragging the parliament from its legislative function to legislating against the freedom of opinion.

The chairman of the Political Development Forum Ali Saif Hassan expressed his fear that the amount of those persons knowledge of religion as much as their knowledge of the laws. He also expressed his surprise that those who have aroused the issue of Al-Mustaqila newspaper in the parliament are members in important committees like that of freedoms, saying if those view democracy and elections as evil so their entering the parliament is a sort of infiltration to use the immunity granted to them for harming others.

The civil activist from Arab Sisters Forum for Human Rights Balqis al-Lahbi denounced the change of the parliament to guard of the people minds and thoughts and she addressed the Islah MP Fuad Dahaba by saying " You have kicked up the dust because singer Asala Nassri was going to sing in a public lace and none will have privacy with her while there are residential cities built with the people's money and adultery is practiced in them and no one asks about them."

Head of the Yemen Socialist Party bloc at the parliament Aydarous Nassr said here retreat in the values of dialogue and tolerance and accepting the other and what we are suffering from are remnants of the period that preceded the political revolution. The socialist MP criticised the authority media address and blamed some opposition newspapers of which he said they practice a kind of transgression and push others to haughtiness and obstinacy as well as rejection of positives recognized before. He promised to do his best to contain the issue because some of the names in the petition have distinguished stance regarding many issues in the parliament.
