Almotamar.net - Mukalla, Yemen- Secretary General of the General People's Congress (GPC) Abdulqader Bajammal on Wednesday accused the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) of evading from dialogue and disavow the agreements, among them the agreement of principles, considering the demands of the JMP have been confined to the supreme commission for elections as if there are no other issues.
Bajammal said," We ask them to say sincerely who always escape from dialogue? "He added that they want elections according to proportional representation whereas elections all over the world elections are held according to the individual system and the latest of which is in Italy a month ago." He went on to say," We know this system is not good in Yemen and rather the individual system is the best and most comprehensive and would preserve the balance in the country."
In a meeting held in Mukalla city Tuesday evening gathering leaderships of the GPC, political and social activities, leaderships of local councils and the GPC's executive units and branches of the GPC in the governorate and its coastal districts devoted to discussion of the governorate's affairs and what is going on by chaotic movements, the Secretary General said," Since the presidential and local elections of 2006 and in 2007 we have begun to feel them, those movements adopted the vision more than before and now the goal has become clear that the main objective is creation of more troubles and forms of chaos and for the existence of a long column of electors they have those who love fabrication of seditions and crises and disturb the atmospheres, that's what they are after. "
Bajammal stressed that the GPC's vision towards the woman concerning the representation by 15% in local councils, the parliament and organisational bodies is fixed in its regulations and "we are ready to increase the woman quota of the woman representation in the parliament," and wondered what the JMP has done? Parties of the JMP refused the dialogue on this question and many differences appeared among them.
Bajammal added that before returning to dialogue there must be an agreement on a number of issues, among them are respect of the state, agreement on the law of the press, speeding up passing the law on weapons, agreement on the law of protection of the national unity, amendment of the parties law, agreement on a document of ethics on nomination of the woman and other of the important issues that " we view the necessity of finishing them."
In his address Bajammal also pointed out joining of nine members to the permanent committee of the GPC that were leading members in their parties from many governorates. He said the explanation of that is that these leaderships have reached to a conviction of the non-avail and incorrectness of the pursuit the parties of the JMP are following regarding the reality of the political life and the democratic process and the moderateness and pursuit of the GPC and its pioneering role in the political and mass work.
Bajammal added that the firm political line of the state is that which President Ali Abdullah Saleh has expressed in his election platform that makes the issue of democracy, development, Yemeni unity and the social peace as the foundation of progress and construction.
