Almotamar Net - Member of the General Committee of the General People’s Congress (GPC) Dr Ahmed Ubeid Bin Daghr, the Head of Mass Organisations Office has said Saturday elections of governors confirm loyalty of the President and credibility of the GPC towards the people through the realization of a real transfer in the nature of the rule from centralization to decentralization system that gathers between people participation in administration of the local affair and the contribution to the process of development in the society. Almotamar.net - Member of the General Committee of the General People’s Congress (GPC) Dr Ahmed Ubeid Bin Daghr, the Head of Mass Organisations Office has said Saturday elections of governors confirm loyalty of the President and credibility of the GPC towards the people through the realization of a real transfer in the nature of the rule from centralization to decentralization system that gathers between people participation in administration of the local affair and the contribution to the process of development in the society.

Bin Daghr affirmed that by announcement of those accepted in the process of the contest the election of governors becomes a fact in the democratic experiment and achievement of people’s participation in a form depicting a pure Yemeni democratic characteristic compared to regional and international standards.

Bin Daghr added that election of governors is considered a new change in Yemen history and a rare democratic case in the region. It ushers a beginning of centralization giving up many of its powers to the local rule and in favour of governorates and their local councils.

In his statement to almotamar.net he said this step would not have been taken were it not for the aware mature will of the GPC and its leadership represented by President Ali Abdullah Saleh. This will reflected the integration between the two political and people’s wills, adding that by election of governors, the local files of development, investments and services is turned to the hands of the people represented by their elected local councils.
