The UNHCR Chief who has begun an official visit to Yemen expressed appreciation of the United Nations of the efforts Yemen Exerts for hosting refugees especially the Somalis and its understanding of the problems they face. He thanked the Yemeni government for the cooperation and understanding of problems of the Somali refugees as well as other refugees.
In a statement reported by Yemeni Saba news agency the UN official confirmed the UN support for the Yemeni government efforts in this regard, indicating he would discuss with the officials at concerned parties the situations related to the Somali refugees in Yemen and the ways of providing the necessary support in order to cope with their problems.

It is worth mentioning that the number of Somali refugees increases every year and it amounts to more than 250 thousand persons.
Press sources said Guterres would attend during his visit to Yemen opening of the regional conference on protection of refugees and international migration to be held in Sana'a 0n 19-20 of this month. He will also visit offices of the UNHCR in Sana'a and Aden and the UNHCR centers for refugees on the Yemeni southern coastal areas. 25 September newspaper quoted UN sources as mentioning that Guterres would hold discussions with Yemeni government officials and to meet Somalis and Ethiopians who have arrived in Yemen after a trip fraught with danger through which they crossed the Gulf of Aden.
