Almotamar.net - Under auspices of President Ali Abdullah Saleh of Yemen the Economic and social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA)'s 25th Ministerial Session will be held in Sana'a on Wednesday. It is expected to adopt an agreement on multi-media international Transport System in the Arab Mashreq (ITSAM) and to sign it.
A press release issued by the Information Office of ESCWA in Beirut, received by almotamar.net, mentioned that ITSAM agreement comes among the accomplishments realized by ESCWA member states ion transport and an important brick for the development of transport sector and facilitating international transport in the region.
The press release pointed out that work began in 1999 for the development of integrated transport system in the Arab Mashreq.
THE system deals with issues of developing the basic structure and raising efficiency of movement and operation in addition to harmonize between laws, regulations and criteria. It will deal with development of organizational structures and human forces and signing the regional and international convention. ITSAM works for facilitating trade and transport movement regionally and internationally.
The multimodal international transport is considered a transport operation of goods via one responsible person or body of persons.
It is scheduled that the convention will be signed after the opening meeting of the session which will be at ministerial level.
