Almotamar.net - The International Foundation for Election Systems (IFES) is currently conducting dialogue with Yemeni parties and relevant government administrations as well as committees and organisations and Yemenis interested in dialogue on political general funding in emerging democracies in the 21st century.
Resident Executive Manager of IFES in Yemen Peter Williams has said that IFES found real and sincere interest in this subject by all parties and persons it has met. He added that the Foundation , in partnership with the Minister for the parliament and shoura council affairs , the chairman of political parties and organisations affairs Khalid Abdulwahab al-Sharif, would on 5 July hold a symposium on the subject in order to provide the opportunity for those interested to listen to speakers on the general financing for the politics in Yemen. Mr Williams said there will also be a talk on the Australian experiment and other regional and international experiments and a long time would be devoted to dialogue and discussion. The symposium will be attended by specialists and academics as well as the senior advisors of IFES in the political financing.
Mr Williams also said the symposium would not talk about what happened t=in the previous elections but rather how to ensure just contest in the upcoming elections. He said they want the participants to put aside the past and to look for the future.
