Almotamar.net - President Ali Abdullah Saleh referred Saturday, a letter of appeal, sent to him Friday by a number of civil society organisations, to the committee of political dialogue. The letter, dispatched by chairman of the Progress and Advancement Forum, was about enlisting it as part of the current talks between the General People's Congress (GPC) and the Joint Meeting Parties on the supreme commission for elections.

The message, almotamar.net obtained a copy of it , appealed not to exclude the woman from formation of the supreme commission for elections in case there was an agreement on it between parties of the political and national action.

The message, adopted by a number of civil society organisations, mentioned that the Forum of Progress and Advancement and the civil society organisations interested in the woman issues, signatory of the message, appeal to the President for taking a decision on empowering the woman to take effective part in the supreme commission for elections in the event an agreement was reached via political accord on its formation and that in line with the President's initiative concerning adoption of the woman quota system in parliament. It said that is considered the cornerstone of the woman positive and effective participation in the democratic process.
