Almotamar.net - Yemen Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr Saleh Ali Basura on Tuesday reviewed developments of higher education in Yemen during the past years in quantity and quality.
In his address to the 4th conference of the Islamic countries higher education conference held in the Azerbaijani capital Baku the Minister said higher education in Yemen has witnessed great developments that kept pace with the technological revolution and knowledge that higher education establishments in the Arab and Islamic worlds have witnessed.
Minister Basura pointed out that Yemen is continuing in carrying out the national strategy for developing higher education for the period 2006/2010 and its executive programme under support of the World Bank, the European Union and some donor organisations.
Dr Basura also mentioned in his address about the more important projects that are being implemented as part of the national strategy of the higher education in Yemen particularly computerization of activities of government universities and their connection with one network and in turn connecting them regionally and internationally.
The Minister also touched on the steps taken by Yemen in supporting scientific research and its encouragement.
It is scheduled that the conference would conclude its meetings on Wednesday with coming out with recommendations and decisions contributing to enhancement of communication and boosting cooperation among the Islamic countries in the field of higher education and scientific research.
