Almotamar.net - The Joint Executive committee composed of the Supreme Commission for Elections and Referendum (SCER) and the Ministry of Education in Yemen received Wednesday names of members of supervising and major committees for the phase of revising and amending voter tables from employees of the Education Ministry, pursuant to the legal conditions and the required numbers for each governorate and constituency. The procedure is within the preparations for revising and amending voter tables in preparation for the parliamentary elections in 2009.
The SCER had on the 24 of last September decided to seek help of the education sector for carrying out the phase of revising voter tables 2008 because of expiry of the defined time and opportunities provided for the parties of the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) to present names of their representatives in the process of those committees.
The Joint Executive Committee also approved in its meeting on Wednesday referring those names to the legal and technical sectors to be sure of meeting conditions and criteria in selecting the participants and the numbers fixed by the SCER.
In its meeting today the SCER discussed a number of topics on its agenda in the light of the time programme for the phase of revising and amending voter tables. The meeting also reviewed the project of political empowerment of the woman and supporting her in the electoral process. That was presented by the General administration for Woman at the SCER.
