almotamar.net - The Democratic School in Yemen is preparing to launch Yemen Parliamentary Monitor that will represent a link between the elector and the member of the parliament. The Monitor aims to inform the elector on duties of the MP and provide information about the stands adopted by the MP at the parliament as well as giving information on activities of MPs on their candidates and the extent of their commitment to their election programmes.

The Monitor will also contribute to formation of a clear picture on MPs stances at the parliament and enhancement of the principle of transparency and accountability between the elector and the MP. It is also to disseminate awareness amid the electors about the constitution and the rules of procedure of the parliament and conditions of its membership. It is also to inform the Yemeni voter on his rights and his duties towards his representatives in the parliament and about the parliamentary blocs and their stands concerning different issues.

The YPM project includes a number of activities beginning from training monitors from the youth to attend the sessions, recording the most important of its proceedings, a website including information on the MPs, their CVs, and stances of MPs regarding different issues and the issuance of a periodic bulletin on meetings of the parliament.
