Almotamar.net - Member of the Supreme Commission for Elections & Referendum SCER, the Chairman of the Foreign Relations Sector at the Commission Jaafar Basaleh called Sunday on all political parties and organisations and civil organisations in Yemen to work for upgrading reality of the woman in the area of effective participation in the political process. He considered inauguration of the second phase of the programme on the woman political empowerment as n important step for the enhancement of the women participation in the electoral process.

At the programme inauguration ceremony, organized by the SCER�s General Administration for the Woman Affair in cooperation with the UNDP, Basaleh asked the political parties and organisations to agree on empowering the women in the representation by 15% of the parliament seats in the upcoming parliamentary elections. He valued all forms of support for the SCER and the woman empowerment programme by donors offered through the UNDP.


For their part, Dr Abdullah Salem Lamlas, Education Undersecretary and Ilham Abdulwahhab, Director General for the Woman at the SCER reviewed a package of goals and activities of the groups for student action on electoral awareness and dissemination of the culture of women political participation and electoral awareness at schools as well as contribution of the Education Ministry.
